Cursor Agent (Composer 2)

Cursor Agent is the core agentic coding system inside the Cursor IDE, powered by the proprietary Composer 2 model trained exclusively on coding data. It uses a custom codebase embedding model to achieve deep semantic understanding of repositories regardless of size, enabling it to read, plan, write, and refactor code across multiple files in a single session. The agent supports multiple interaction modes including Plan Mode for complex tasks, Debug Mode that instruments code and analyzes execution data, and a visual design editor for front-end work. It can run shell commands, execute builds and tests, and orchestrate up to eight parallel sub-agents working simultaneously on different tasks.
